Do the second stages normally include a first service parts kit? I didn’t receive anything with the 2nd stage itself. I know the free service is not included but what about parts?

When I got my Signature series set last year, it only came with parts for the first stage. I have two 2nd's.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know. The wording is sometimes odd as to what parts come with what items. I’m also semi new to scuba and deep six so learning as much as I can as I go.

I'm new to having my own equipment. I started buying gear last year, starting with Deep6 regs and fins. I, too, didn't understand what was included. I only got parts for the 1st stage, so I'm guessing that's what the servicing is all about.

Check out Alec Peirce's "Scuba Tech Tips" on YouTube. I found it really useful for learning terms and understanding gear.

Lol. Funny you mention Alec. So I’ve already watched all his scuba tech tips and most of his vintage scuba and sea hunt remembers episodes as well. I started following him before I got certified.
On a side note have you purchased any 2nd stage part kits for your 2nd’s yet?

Heheh... that's great!

I haven't purchased any 2nd stage parts kits yet. It hasn't actually occurred to me to do so, though I probably should get at least one.

I was just thinking about having one parts set on hand. “Just in case”

A full service means rebuilding the 1st and the 2nds. Usually, the 2nds end up needing something replaced before the 1st does. Most often it's the Low Pressure Seat in the 2nd stage.

What should I be looking at for the service intervals? I remember seeing something like 200 dives or 2 years, which I'm guessing is for the 1st stage. What about the 2nd's?

I've had my regs for one year now, with only 67 dives. On the liveaboard, it was full service, so I'm not exactly sure how thorough the cleaning was between dives nor how well the final cleaning was. About a week later, I did my own cleaning after dives, scooping water over the 1st to clean it and soaking the 2nd's for about 15-30 mins. A month later, I did the same after more diving. In my final cleaning of the year, I let the 2nd's sit in a sink for four hours before drying.

It was my understanding 2nd stages are supposed to come with service kits as well, as it is one of the main points of Deep6's business model - for owners to have parts on hand in case you need a LDS to service your regulator while on travel.

Maybe @cerich or @LandonL will chime in.

I have a handout I now give to my customers about reg care. Shoot me your email and I'll send it to you. SB doesn't seem to let me copy and paste a larger body of text and I'm not going to retype the whole thing.
One note is that soaking doesn't get a reg clean. Soaking loosens stuff up like salt or silt. You need fresh running water like from a garden hose to move the junk away. You also need to work the knobs and levers while rinsing it to make sure you get rid of any trapped particles.
