Couldn’t you side mount just one? A 80cuft pony?

that would mean you have an 80 or 100 on your back and you are slinging an 80 in front. Thats alot of changes in your balance and boyancy id guess. and you would have to bring along that sling. a pony sling is too small and the LDS at a tropical location aint gonna have it. So wouldnt it just be easier to bring a normal pony along anyway?

As I told you before, I don't like to dive deeper than the cubic feet of gas I'm carrying. With the aluminum 80s that are common in Cozumel, I wouldn't be swimming through the Devil's Throat at 110 feet. I also don't dive where there are schools of sharks. If I did, I would plan to leave the bottom long before I needed a pony. What if the sharks hadn't left? Would the pony make any difference? You continue to make excuses for diving a pony that could easily be remedied by better diving. If I'm diving deep, I'm wearing isolated doubles. If I'm making a planned deco dive I carry a stage bottle or two with enough gas for me and any buddy I might have. If you enjoy putting yourself in situations where your only escape is with a pony, go for it.

We are NOT talking about YOU. The world of diving isnt 500,000 divers identical to maxbottomtime. Most divers in Cozumel or enough for every day dives there DO do that dive on an AL80 or upgrade to a 100 and dive it. some do it twice a day. Your arguments are always coming back to you. But this is basic scuba and new divers are looking at this and these divers will be diving very different than you dive. they want to have fun in mexico indonesia philippines maldives palau fiji. Do you plan on diving in all those places this year? Because there will be thousands and thousands of divers travelling there to do exactly that.

Its not about you.

Its about everyone else.

Actually, a side mount "sling" and a regulator will take up very little space at all...

You are talking about me, aren't you? I'm sure of it. I just know that you are...

you are watching my posts arent you? Im watching you watching me reading your posts reading mine....wait... I think you may be paranoid. You have a pony dont you!

lol ok.....so an AL80 on a tropical dive slung on my harness wont take up much space? I think id look like an idiot as I will already have a 100cf on my back. Ill stick to my pony not an AL80 pony

I find a pony bottle to be far, far less complicated than an instabuddy of unknown skills, experience, temperament, physical condition, medical history, demeanor, attitude and possible personality disorders.
My buddy is my wife. We certified together in 1985. We hang pretty close together and I don't believe she has ever done a dive without me. Sometimes in Mexico I look over at her 20-25' away and think "If my air supply quit right now I'd head for the surface". Bad buddy practices? Maybe, but I we are diving in a similar manner to all the others around us. I don't believe you guys who say you are always right next to your buddies really are. If so, you have not been on the boats I've been on in the last 30 odd years.

If you have a pony your incentive to be a good buddy is reduced. If you have a failure you don’t really care how far away he is. The mutually assured distruction contract is broken.

leap of faith
straw man
fake argument

because we will have a pony we dont care how far away our buddy is? less incentive to be a good buddy? waaaaaaaat???????

You have to be needling people on purpose. I do not believe you believe what you just wrote.

No offense.
