Has anyone seen or used the new Scubapro Hydros Pro BCD

I wear a 5ml suit so I think it was 6.6 lbs (1.5kg each side) in the front pockets, no trim weight as that just made everything a whole lot worse. And, remember, the bladder (wing) migrates fully to the left OUTSIDE of water with zero weight in the pockets. Whenever I handle the BCD at all, the air in the bladder is always fully on the left side. Manually centering the bladder to the backplate does not last long, it seems to move back on it's own, quicker when you are handling it or carrying it around.

Certinatly shouldn’t move around like that, there was, somewhere deep in this thread, a discussion of a fix which entailed addition of a clip to keep it centered, you may want to contact scubapro directly. I haven’t had the chance to dive one of these, I like the concept and those I know who use it love it.

I already sent it in, the dealer sent it back, said the fix won't be available for another 2 months or so and that it would cost me. Crap BCD and very poor service in my opinion.

Try scubapro directly, HWard@scubapro.com, I don’t know if this contact is still good but worth a try.

Thanks I'll do that! I had called them before I sent it in and they said they would fix it, but it never made it past the distributor.

Sorry, why would you pay more than $900 for a BC with a history of monoprene attachment failures and a mobile wing that throws off buoyancy? Even if the wing problem can be fixed DIY, why invest? I've dived a Knighthawk for 14 years, no problems, 30% discount over the Hydros Pro. Scubapro is doing themselves no good with the problems associated with this BC

I would not spend that much.

But, I do prefer it to any other integrated BCD I have seen. I have posted before regarding my reasons for preferring it.

i also suspect that the early versions and their problems may have given the current version a bit of a bad rep that it does not deserve. Or perhaps not fully deserved anyway.

I also think that we're more likely to hear about the problems here. I know a number of people that bought a Hydros locally, including several staff at my former shop. None of them have had any problems that I know of.

The issue that @Kalicocat is reporting with the air cell shifting to one side so easily makes me suspect that there is something wrong with her (his? my apologies, not sure and don't like to assume) Hydros beyond just the fact that the design allows the bungees to move.

Man... This thread really bums me. I have a refundable deposit on one of these and about five weeks to make up my mind when the shipment arrives from the US to the SP dealer here. I loved my Knighthawk, wore it out, and went to the SP 30lb wing/BP/STA for about five years. It's fine, but I just cannot stand wearing a weight belt anymore as it kills my lower back. And honestly, I want something I can adjust on the fly again. I dont want to get into the BP/W debate. I dive a lot and think my gear through so enough said about that. Really I want another Knighthawk, but mediums are gone, gone, gone in SE Asia- at least I cannot find one.

Anyway, gear issues in remote areas, consumer protection, turnaround on shipping times, etc... are all huge issues in my part of the world (Indonesia). If I buy it, I am gonna be stuck with it all the bullsh-t that might come with it.

Maybe I should walk away? The shipment is coming direct from Scubapro so I am 99% sure way I will get the latest version, but... I don't know. The idea of a broken shoulder strap on a boat in the middle of nowhere Indonesia sounds stupid-awful.

You’re a walking/swimming example of the BP/W argument, being to repair on the spot seems to outweigh anything that any B/C has to offer. It is possible to rig a BP to offer everything you like about the Nighthawk, the Hog style one piece is not the only option.

Understood and I have worked through that. I also bought my current rig in the US with a Keyman deal... You get the idea. It makes more sense for me to sell the whole rig and get something I know I like and believe in.

For the keyman price I would give it a shot but keep the BP handy.
