I would like to be loud and argumentative about the complete absurdity of your opinion of scubaboard's ability.

Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?

I've told you once.

The Monty Python reference means you win the thread! Thanks for a chuckle.

Nice!! (There's a package discount.)

The cruise lines have already put there itineraries together for the upcoming year, so, most likely, no changes there. Generally, the cruising public doesn’t look at guide books, and those that do won’t until after they have booked.
The ones who do look before booking will probably be thinking ‘but this trip includes Belize or Costa Maya or Roatan, so we’ll not expect much from Coz, but we’ll enjoy the other stops’.

Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my take.

Yeah, the cruise itineraries go out almost two years, but I wonder if this article might depress demand over a period of time. When that happens the cruise lines drop prices to entice buyers, so the number of passengers remains fairly constant. (Tears for lost cruise line profits [NOT].) I wonder who reads Fodors and would base travel decisions on these recommendations? Someone must, as they're still in business. Maybe Europeans more that North Americans?

Now, a major storm that scoured the coast and washed out all the western beaches and that left only iron shore (heaven forbid - such a storm would cause a lot more damage as well) might move the needle more.

How many cruseros dive? Not many; as a percentage of the total traffic it's virtually zero. I don't see the article having any appreciable effect on the number of customers for cruises that include Cozumel as a port of call.

I don't know any modern day people who read Fodor's anymore - haha. Anyway, not many cruise ship people dive and since Cozumel has basically turned into a major cruise ship port, there are plenty of other ways for them to ruin the island.

I will probably take some heat for this, but being true to myself and my beliefs is more important than $$ or popularity. Because I am so against cruise ships and everything they represent, Blue XT~Sea has stopped accepting cruise ship passengers under any circumstances. We didn't take a lot to begin with, but now we will do our part not to support this industry or the people that support it.

My family was good friends with Roberto of Roberto's Black Coral Shop, which was for many years downstairs from the old Prima location across from the Pro Dive shop. He frequently said he used to love Cozumel but since it became a cruiser destination "Cozumel is a whore".

When I speak of Puta Langosta it isn't a typo.

Aldora did the same thing Christi, some years ago. We (oops they) did make exceptions for divers we/they knew well who were forced on a cruise by family pressure. But unknown cruisers…no way.

Primarily it was to keep weenie divers from ruining the experience of our regular divers.

You were "we" with Aldora when you did that. You still are, IMO.
