OK, so I started servicing my old MK15, which has yet the original seat retainer with the clip. I managed to remove the clip, but in no way I managed to extract the seat from the retainer...
It appears there is a small hole in the center of the hex, where I applied compressed air at 8 bars, but the seat did not move.
Any idea how to remove the seat?
Can the seat simply be remounted the other way around (as in old MK5), or do I need a new seat?
Any idea where I could find a new version seat retainer (and spare seats)?
Or do you suggest that I simply get rid of the crap MK15, and search for another MK5, as the four I already have and which can be serviced easily and inexpensively?

Hi @Angelo Farina If you don't have a new seat do not remove it. It cannot be flipped over. If you're definitely going to replace the seat you can screw a wood screw or cup hook into the seat and pull it out. OR try this method:

One method I've found that works rather well is to cover your tank valve with one of those plastic/rubber valve protector caps they sell at LDS. The rubber cap will serve as a seal. Poke a hole directly over the point where air exits the tank valve. Use the yoke and yoke screw to secure the seat retainer in place with the seat pointed at a child or pet. Slowly crack open the tank valve and voila!

If you decide to go that route, @lowviz is looking for a MK15 with the hex key seat retainer.

On the other hand, I have plenty of MK10s to sell. :-D

@Angelo Farina: Does your MK15 have the hex seat adjustment or the two pin holes?

I'm looking to buy one of the old hex-style regs...
Yes, I have the hex-style seat retainer. And I would be very happy to swap with the newer version with two small holes...
Of course, also other internal parts need to be swapped, as clearly shown on the MK15 service manual:

OK, I'm game!

@Angelo Farina: How about you send me your hex-adjustable MK15 and I then buy and dropship an MK10 from @couv back to you?

Uauh, this is a very generous offer!
Yes, my MK15 is the original version, with hex key, and till now I did leave it fully original (3000 PSI seat and bushing).
It locks at 8.75 bar and is stable, no drift.
It was leaking air from the large piston O-ring. I replaced it, and now there is no leakage and works well.
It is equipped with the original 3000 PSI yoke, with plastic knob and "MK15" mark on it.
I would be very happy to swap it with a MK10, which, in my opinion, is the best piston 1st stage ever built.
So, how do we arrange for the swap?
I can ship my one with a courier like DHL or UPS...
Please note, however, that I did buy it as part of an Octopus system with two 109-156 second stages and one SPG, so the MK15 1st stage has actually three open ports without the corresponding hex screws, one HP and two IP. I do not have any spare hex screws to send you for closing these holes.

I may have a few original Mk15 SP parts kits. I’ll look on Monday and report back.

PM both me and @couv to save time. I'll give you my shipping address and phone number that I keep private, I'm sure couv will do the same. Absolutely no prob with the open ports.

@couv, go ahead and ship the MK-10 when you get the info then email me the amount that you would like PayPal'ed to you for the reg and shipping. This is an 'on honor' 3-way deal. A' la Radar O'Reilly. Much fun.

:)

Edit: PM rec'd. I love it when a plan comes together!
