With two buddies, I have to wonder why the two of them couldn't bring him in when he ran into problems, or was the three diver setup the problem? I think that watching out for two others at the same time is too challenging and one could become easily distracted.

Diver dies at Anaura Bay, body found on beach
The body of a man who went missing while diving at Anaura Bay late yesterday afternoon was located this morning after searchers were unable to find any trace of him yesterday.
Police received a report of a person missing in the water at Anaura around 5.40pm yesterday.
A search began involving police Search and Rescue and the Trust Tairawhiti rescue helicopter, but there was no sign found of the man.
It continued for about two hours until dark.
The rescue chopper returned to Anaura Bay to resume the search at first light this morning.
“Sadly the man was located on the beach in the bay by the chopper crew, north of where he went missing yesterday,” police said.
The chopper landed and the body was recovered.
Police said the man was with two other men who were swimming back from Motuoroi Island offshore from Anaura beach when he got into difficulties.
His two companions made it safely back to shore.
The man's name has not yet been released by police as they continue to work to contact all next of kin.
The matter will be referred to the Coroner.
