Hailing from Penang Malaysia

Hi All,

I m new on the scene , but have been diving ( like crazy ) for past 15 years now . I am from Penang , Malaysia and we ve a dive club that meets weekly on fridays . To all scuba divers passing through , you would be welcome to either say hello , find out tips from us locals , or better , join us on all sorts of adventurous ( but safe ) diving trips . Call me on my mobile - 6016 4112120. One can plan to dive the nearest marine park at Payar ( fish life :excellent ; vis - fair ; good to v good ) or to travel northwards into thailand to dive southern thailand , which are excellent dive sites .
One thing though , weather wise ,to dive on the west of malaysia,& thailand one would have to do it between Nov through may . ( incl payar ' Phuket ) . For diving -
East Thailand, & Malaysia - April through Oct ( Koh Samui , Tioman , Redang , etc )

I am a SSI instructor ( dive control specialist ) and would be happy to exchange info with some of you local msian divers .

Hi Temana,

I am in Penang about twice a year and when I am there I dive Pulau Payar most weekends.

I my experience it is always teeming with life even though the visibility is variable.

As a great bonus Penang people are so welcoming and the food is unbelievable in variety, quality, taste and value.

The one disappointment is that the commercial operations because they have a mixed clientel, tend to repeatedly use only the sites suited to beginers. I would still like to see Grouper Farm.
