Newbie on the ScubaBoard

Just joined the ScubaBoard. Live in Punta Gorda! Florida. Just moved here and I am looking for some good dive spots. Either shore or boat, no matter. Anyone know this area? I've heard Siesta Key is good because of the quartz crystals on the sea floor....is this true? Be great to hear from anyone with advice...
