This one is the same age as a diver who died off of Dania Beach on September 11 and reported on now two different threads, but this story just broke today and happened 45 miles from Dania Beach: Man, 62, died while diving near Lake Worth inlet
A 62-year-old man died over the weekend after diving near the Lake Worth Inlet, The Coast Guard confirmed Wednesday.

The man, who was not identified, was aboard one of Jim Abernethy's Scuba Adventures dive boats, the Deep Obsession, on Sunday afternoon. He failed to resurface from a dive, said Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Russ Tippets.

Coast guard officials from the Lake Worth station were dispatched to the scene, about one mile northeast of the inlet.

Before they arrived, the man's body was recovered by someone on the dive boat, Tippets said. He was unconscious.

Paramedics responded and gave the man CPR while transporting him to St. Mary's Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, Tippets said.

Abernethy, whose dive boat company is based out of West Palm Beach, said he could not comment.

Thats too bad and its never good to hear about a loss of life, Ive heard alot of dock talk about people that were on the boat with the gentleman about how they felt he was shaking and looked as if he shouldnt of been diving. so if customers on the dive boat saw this why wasnt it caught by the captain or dive op personal before the dive? This story wasnt in the news. but with everything ive seen and im haring i just want the real story on what went down.
anyone know anything

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

Hmmm... after removing all the off-topic stuff there ain't much left here. If anyone has any information about this mishap please feel free to post it. If, on the other hand, there's a desire to discuss the way the media reports accidents or the finer points of dive operation operations, procedures and responsibilities in general, please feel free to start a new thread in the Basic Scuba forums for that purpose.
:)
Here are the rules for this forum:

Rick Murchison:
The purpose of this forum is the promotion of safe diving through the examination and discussion of accidents and incidents; to find lessons we can apply to our own diving.
Accidents, and incidents that could easily have become accidents, can often be used to illustrate actions that lead to injury or death, and their discussion is essential to building lessons learned from which improved safety can flow. To foster the free exchange of information valuable to this process, the "manners" in this forum are much more tightly controlled than elsewhere on the board. In addition to the TOS:

(1) You may not release any names here, until after the names have appeared in the public domain (articles, news reports, sheriff's report etc.) The releasing report must be cited. Until such public release, the only name you may use in this forum is your own.
(2) Off topic posts will be removed and off topic comments will be edited.
(3) No flaming, name calling or otherwise attacking other posters. You may attack ideas; you may not attack people.
(4) No trolling; no blamestorming. Mishap analysis does not lay blame, it finds causes.
(5) No "condolences to the family" here. Please use our Passings Forum for these kinds of messages.
(6) If you are presenting information from a source other than your own eyes and ears, cite the source.
(7) If your post is your hypothesis, theory, or a "possible scenario," identify it as such.
(8) If your post is about legal action that concerns a mishap, use the Scuba Related Court Cases forum.
Thanks in advance,
Rick

The gentleman was asked by the crew more than once if he was alright and feeling well enough to dive. His response each time was in the affirmative and seemed genuinely excited for both dives.
