I had no idea this forum existed until the other day and since the first post says to bring your concerns............
Back in February I needed new boots for my dry suit and noticed that DRIS offered the USIA ultimate replacement boots. The size 11 was out of stock but was shown to be back in stock in a few days. I also noticed on the DRIS dry suit accessory page
Dry Suit Accessories - Get the Best and Latest Drysuit Accessories at Discount Prices - Dive Right in Scuba there is a banner that says a 3-5 day turn around time. Then I noticed that on the services page
Drysuit Repairs | Regulator Repairs | BCD Repairs - Dive Right in Scuba the banner says the turn around time is a fast 7-10 days. That with a few orders over the years that have gone well and all the good things people have to say I decided to send my suit to DRIS.
I received a call on Feb 9th saying my suit had been received and we talked about what I wanted done to the suit. That is also when I was told about a 4 week backlog, but we might get to it sooner. I asked about the 7-10 day turn around and was told DRIS is just really busy right now and that is not going to happen. I figured that since you already had the suit I would just live with it.
Fast forward to March 8th. I send an email about the status of my suit since I have not heard anything. Mike says sorry for the delay and he will look into it. I get a response from Terry the next day saying he was sorry and explains that the boots are out of stock and was sorry nobody contacted me about it. Apparently the boots were never in stock and my suit just sat there for a month until I decided to check on it. How long would it have sat there if I had not called? After continued discussion with Terry, he said he would ship out a size 10 and 12 boots to try on before being installed and would get them in the mail the next day (March 11th) and get me a tracking number. I call Terry early in the week and ask if the boots have been shipped. I was told yes, but he did not have a tracking number yet. How does a package ship with no tracking number? A week later I write an email saying still no tracking number or boots. Finally the boots show up at the wrong address. I asked for them to be shipped to my work, but they showed up at my house instead. They had also been shipped next day, so they were never in the mail when I asked earlier. But no big deal I had them to try on, so I was happy. The bad part is that the boots did not fit. So I sent them back the next day.
Talking again with Terry about what options I had besides the original USIA boots with the heel he said there was another boot he would send out for me to try before they were installed. That was March 21st. March 29th I sent an email saying that I had not received the boots yet and asked if they had been shipped. As of this morning April 1st I have still not heard anything.
I appreciate DRIS sending out boots for me to try on since my size was not in stock (since the day it arrived). I also appreciate that another set of boots could possibly be sent out. But DRIS has also had my suit for 53 days and I am no closer to getting it back then when I sent it in. And just a tad longer that the 7-10 days advertised on the web site.
