Here is what the yellow duct tape looks like at depth on a pair of Mako freediving fins.

Depends on whether you are using it to identify your self to others underwater or find yours in a pile. I use a small coloured zip tie on gear so I can tell it from a friend, or others on the boat, that has the same.
 
I use the white and red conspicuity tape made by 3M. Apply it with a heat gun and it will stick forever. Extremely visible. I can be identified easily from a far distance.
