    Nudis and flatworms...

Hi! A little help would be greatly appreciated! :) I'm guessing some kind of hypselodoris, but which one? (Puerto Galera, Philippines) Pteraeolidia ianthina? (Puerto Galera, Philippines) Nembrotha Chamberlaini? I'm hesitating because the base of the rhinophores and gills is dark purple...

Typhoon Bopha's effect on Palau's dive sites

I came back a few days ago from a long trip in this area. I spent a week on the Ocean Hunter with Fish n' Fins just before christmas. I have to admit this was my first time in Palau so it's difficult for me to compare the before/after Bopha, but I can give an idea of the status the islands and...

Suggestions for mid-august (2 week trip)

Hi all I'm planning a 2 week trip to the Maldives in august, with a week on the Carpe Vita liveaboard. I still have about 4-5 days after arriving at Male and 1-2 days before leaving. Any suggestions? I'd like to see maybe a different kind of diving than N, S Male and Ari atolls, and get a...

Cutting the Scopolamine Patch in 1/2

What I did on the liveaboards I've been on was to apply a band-aid behind my ear and apply half the patch on the skin and half on the band-aid. They fell off easier, after maybe 36-48h, but no side-effects like I experienced with a full patch.

    GO groupers!!!

Here I am in Little Cayman enjoying a very good DAN diving medicine course with great diving, BUT... Lionfish on every dive... :( We were cruising along Bloody Bay wall 2 days ago with a friendly grouper following us. The DMs started feeding them dead lionfish a while ago, I don't know how...

    Beginner Diving in Galapagos?

Oh, and we didn't go to Mosquera or N. Seymour, so I can't comment on this one.

    Beginner Diving in Galapagos?

My only Galapagos experience is on a liveaboard, so we spent most of our time around Wolf & Darwin. On the couple dives we did around Bartolome and Cousins Rock, the currents were incredibly strong with up and downcurrents too... A lot stronger than what we had on any other island, but then...

Question for fellow Canadians flying Air Canada to Caribbean

They don't include sport equipment anymore. Pack as much as you can in your carry-on and try to fit the rest in one large luggage. Don't forget you can also have a "personnal item", which can be a computer bag, purse, camera, etc... Otherwise, 20 bucks isn't a big deal when you spend a lot for a...

    Galapagos conditions

    * bump * I'm heading down there in about 10 days or so... Does anybody have info about the current conditions? Is La Nina still affecting the area? I looked at the captain's log on the Aggressor website but the last update is from mid-december... Thanks!

    Trip report: Barefoot Cay, Roatan

Hi Nunya! We went on the spirit of freedom on the GBR in 2009, we really liked it, but it's really different. My GF like fish, I love macro life so I loved Roatan more the she did. Poor Knights Island in NZ was awesome but cold, Cuba and Mexico are highly variable depending on where you are...

    Trip report: Barefoot Cay, Roatan

Yeah, the resort is right beside a shipping lane. Maybe there are times where it can be bothering, but during our stay it was really quiet. I've read report from 2-3 years ago on tripadvisor where they said there was quite a lot of noise though... Maybe they made some changes in the last few...

    Trip report: Barefoot Cay, Roatan

Hi marigodiva! I must say that we didn't book any topside activities. We visited the island, West End, West Bay, French Harbour, but we went there to dive and relax mostly... You can have a look at their activities list there: Activities on Roatan - Bay Islands, Honduras

    Live from roatan

Sigh... I know what you mean! Last week I woke up and it was 28 celsius in Roatan, last night I went to bed and it was -29 in Rimouski... :depressed:

    Trip report: Barefoot Cay, Roatan

There is a large patch of sand on the eastern part of the cay but it's surrounded by a boardwalk between the sand and the water. There is also a sandy area in front of each villa and bungalow, each with its private lounge chairs and hammock, but these "beaches" are surrounded by a small (maybe a...

    Trip report: Barefoot Cay, Roatan

Sorry, I didn't take any topside pics... Don't ask why, I have no idea! But there are some on their website and they give a basic idea of the dive shop. And everything was always as clean as you see on those pics Roatan Scuba Diving - Valet Diving Service in Small Groups Their compressor was...
