At St Andrews Jetties are usually good shore diving. Over the wall and to the right depths to over 70 decent marine life. More shallow to left 15-30 feet or so. For dive ops we use Panama City Diving primarily. Great boat and crew

For the dive on the Oriskany, check Captain Andy and the Niuhi out of Pensacola. We dove with them in November and had a fun, safe trip. Would def dive with them again.
Just a quick shout out in case anyone comes across a wayward go pro in St Andrews Jetties. We lost one mid dive yesterday on the left side (bay side) of the cut.
It was original go pro Hd with a heads trap, glass flat lens, filter and the only video on it would start with my mug in the...
Well, they did it in like 5 feet of water so if you panicked and shot up it shouldn't hurt you. My recovery process is air first so in the case of all three reg, then realize no air so turn on the mask last. My brain says if I have air, I have time to figure the rest out. This was all done from...
Well not really twice as much lol. Worse as my 15 year old, my wife and I all certified together so a triple hit but that is all good. Video games and cell phones don't do well underwater still so it is a good family time without the normal distractions.
I probably would have smacked an...
Wow, doesn't seem like it has been 5 months. Thanks again to everyone for the advice and encouragement. As an encouragement to the others starting out and struggling, a small success story. Sonja just completed her 25th dive this last weekend. Below you will find a quick picture of her from her...
Not the best I have seen there. Right side of quarry was the worst at about 5-8. Left side marginally better with it 8-10 @ 65 feet. Still had a blast but vis was better last November when we were there
Probably best bet is to go to Dive Alabama in Pelham on a weekend. Always a pretty good crowd of divers from all over. Www.divealabama.com we are diving there today.
Strength and red sea last Sat and we were very comfortable in 3 mil with hood. DM was if fine in shorts other diver in just skin got cold. Really depends in how hot natured you are. Prob 72-73 on those sites
I agree with TSandM. We started in May, didn't finish cert until October. Our first attempt was similar in that everything that could go wrong did, wife in tears, son not wanting to go back in, me with ear injury, the only difference were the people skills of most of the people we dealt with...
Thanks Paladin, I am only on my first set of all the above and you are telling me this disease just gets WORSE! :D For us, it was the comfort/familiarity factor. We used rental gear during our first attempt at OW.. It was an disaster for us (we had other issues but easier to blame the gear lol)...
My son had a terrible time with it to start WITH a purge valve mask. The moment water hit his nose, game over. If he mentally prepared for it, he could squeak through the skill.. Not exactly optimal.. Then the group we ended up with did a TON of mask off skills, not just the "ok, go down and...
