Sat.Aug.8 Willis Point. 5-15' in the top 60. Looked like it would have been better had we gone deeper. There's a pretty dense layer of plankton from 20-45', definitely take a light.
July 26 - After looking at Spring Bay and deciding the water was far too inky-green to even bother with we went to Ogden Point Breakwater where vis wasn't great 5-10' but manageable. Opted not to do a second dive when the thunder / lightning storm rolled in.
July 25 - Henderson Point - Vis has cleared up quite a bit. Open water class had 15-20' vis all day today. Not stellar, but infinitely better than we had last week and better than I was expecting.
Took an Open Water class to Henderson this morning (July 19/15) for 1st ocean dive.....big mistake. 1-3' vis in the top 40'. Didn't go any deeper. Didn't bother trying to conduct Dive #2.
Dove at the Tsartlip First Nation "Boat Ramp" on Saanich Inlet today for the first time, ever. Vis was 20' in the shallows between the boat ramp and the little point to the left of the ramp, and maybe 25' or so going deeper (max depth 100' today). No jellies to speak of, found a good size...
Did a solo dive at Ogden Pt breakwater June 28th. Vis was awful. Like diving in split-pea soup. 5' at best, and dark like a night dive. One the upshot, did manage to shine the light on a plethora of nudis, that always makes me smile.
The clip is only 00:00:12 long, all exterior shots. Obviously I've missed the proverbial boat on this one.
Maybe we're meant to see >THIS< clip (about 00:03:00 with interior shots)?

Anyone looking for a daytime dive buddy in Victoria between Wed Dec 31 and Sun Jan 4? I've got time off work and would welcome a dive or two.
Send me a PM if interested ...
Cheers,
C.
There's something wonderfully ironic about the big ling cod sitting happily beside the big ball of lost fishing lures at 8:30. He's obviously one that got away.
I'd never thought about diving the leeward side of the end of the breakwater when the waves were obnoxious along the outside wall...
Any reputable and organizationally affiliated dive shop / dive op that offers nitrox _should_ provide divers with a reliable means to analyze the contents of cylinders to be used by nitrox divers. I'd like to say "will" or "must", but that's too much of an assumption. I've stayed at dive...
The shop I teach for does the entire OW course (pool too) in Fusion drysuits. Student's don't know that diving dry should be "harder" and "more complicated" than diving wet because they never learn the difference, they're like babies (little sponges) who just learn that diving dry is the norm...
As simple as it sounds, I find that my Cobra 3 won't connect unless I've rinsed it thoroughly in fresh water ... cleaned the contacts with a dry towel ... and let it "go to sleep" for 10-15 minutes. Trying to connect it right away after a dive always results in "failed to connect" messages from...
10' or so at Ogden Pt on 01.11.14
Lots of silt in the water.
Did manage to spot a juvenile wolf eel out for a swim at about 35' deep between flags #1 and #2.
