    Hi Scott, welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of scuba! As for gear my suggestion would be to first get a wetsuit, it is one thing I have never liked to rent. Then as your budget permits pick up a reg, bc, computer. Enjoy your open water dives.

    Shore dive with new diver: Do you mind short and shallow?

    No issue for me at all, used to do a lot of shore dives to around 15feet with new divers and enjoyed everyone of the dives. Hell I am happy to hop into a pool if someone asks :D

    Sodwana Bay - Is It Worth It

    Yep people probably said don't go as it will be rather busy. That said the diving is still great though 2 mile gets very very busy, head out to 7 or 9 mile and you can pretty much have the reef to yourself!

    What course to do next?

    What dives did you do during your advanced course? Any that you really enjoyed? My choices would be Night, Nav and Rescue, as others have said here rescue is a great course.

    I have been thinking of doing the same thing, I will be 30 next year but I already feel burned out due to the IT game. I think I will look at doing it in a few years time. Money will always be an issue though, luckily the wife is a graphic designer and loves it so she should be able to help out...
