    St. Petersburg Diving Recommendations?

Making my first trip to the St. Petersburg area next week. Staying at a resort in Indian Shores. Anyone from that area have any recommendations for dive shops, charters, or dive sites? Thanks!

    ScubaPro Chromacolor 297 O-ring

Here's a picture of the o-rings. The 297 is the big one looped over the back two pegs. Anyone know how old this box may be?

    ScubaPro Chromacolor 297 O-ring

That's possible. Hadn't thought of that. I was focused on reg's but didn't think that these o-rings probably serviced all SP equipment.

    ScubaPro Chromacolor 297 O-ring

I recently came across an old ScubaPro Chromacolor O-ring organizing box for a service bench. It is teal blue in color with doors that fold down on either side. Most of the o-rings are gone from it, but there are several red 297 o-rings. These things are huge; about 3-1/2" in diameter! What reg...

What equipment significantly changed/improved your scuba diving experience

Ooh! Good one! Didn't think about that. I didn't realize how much detail I was missing till I got my Rx mask.

    SCUBAPRO Automatic Watch question

I have one of the new ScubaPro automatic watches. I have never been able to find out who maunfactured these for SP and what kind of movement they have. I am purchasing an automatic watch winder for it, but I'm wondering what rotation direction the winder should be set for. Clockwise...

    Split fin haters... please explain:

That's funny. I did the same thing last week. I bought a pair of black ones back in September, but when they came out with the blue ones last month, I had to have a pair; so I sold my black ones and got some blues Yeah, Cheech and Chong were a big influence on me growing up...:shakehead:

What equipment significantly changed/improved your scuba diving experience

    Weight-integrated BC's and air-integrated computers. I hope this doesn't date me.

    Split fin haters... please explain:

I'd hold on to my Novas. I used SP Twin-Jet Max split fins up until a couple of months ago when I did a side-by-side comparison of my TJ Max's against a pair of SeaWing Nova's. I found the Nova's superior in all aspects: speed, thrust, manueverability, comfort. They felt a litle funky at first...

    Conshelf SE 2

Also, the SE2 and SE3 used a 1/2" LP hose, as opposed to the 3/8" LP hose found on the XIV. I've owned all three in the past and the only difference I found was that the SE2 and 3 seemed to deliver air a little better under heavy work loads than the XIV. Might have had something to do with the...

    jm cousteau data scan 2

Did you remove the rubber boot for the picture? There was originally a black rubber boot that covered all but the screen. IIRC this was USD's first air integrated computer. They also produced the Monitor 1 and 2 at the time, which were non-integrated. I owned the successor to your computer which...

Scubapro Sea wing novas - 140 dives and both broken

I'm not positive, but I think you can have them replaced by any authorized SP dealer; but I believe you will need to have your sales receipt to prove you are the original purchaser. If I'm not mistaken, the warranty is only valid for the original purchaser, not second-hand. After purchasing a...

    Vortex this past Sunday

I figured what he was doing was for the good of the spring. There was quite a bit of algae on the bottom where he was working. I didn't know about the drought conditions causing that kind of a problem at the springs; makes sense, though. I always think about heavy rains flooding the rivers and...

    Vortex this past Sunday

Stopped by Vortex on the way home from visiting my Dad in Dothan this past Sunday. There weren't very many divers there, but the vis was awful; about 5-10 feet in the basin. The viz quickly improved as you dropped down to the cave entrance. I didn't know what was causing it at first till I swam...

    Looking for gear

He's probably going to need a medium or medium/large BC. I'm 6'-3", 200lbs and I wear a large Scubapro BC. It does vary between manufacturers. Back when I was at 190lbs, I wore a medium US Divers BC. I don't have any extra BC's anymore, but I'll see what else I've got.
