    Thinking about Saba

At the end of this month we will be making our third trip to Saba. Our first trip was in August, with Hurricane Isac making short work of it. The other two trips are in the Last week of March-first week of April time frame. Water was about 5-7 degrees warmer in August but then again you...

    Recommended Restaurants

Estelle's is my all time favorite breakfast place. For Lunch, Waraguma's has a great shrimp Burrito. If you're diving in the afternoon, split one. If not, eat the whole thing with a beer and then take a nap! Wild Mango's is wonderful for dinner. The Blue Water grill is always good for...

Call the Oregon Governor and ask him why they are doing this. Please.

Jim- I have to agree with Mustang29. The Bonneville Dam isn't in Astoria or anywhere near the Pacific Ocean for that matter. Its over 140 miles up the Columbia River. These Sea Lions are are poaching Adult, Spawning Columbia River Salmon as they work their way up the River and past the...

    Dominica

Its been 15 years since I've been there but the in house restaurant was very good. The Pumpkin soup, the breadfruit and the "Mountain Chicken" still come to mind. The diving was very good then and I'm sure it is still now. I wouldn't bother with the "Whale Watching" trips if they are still...

    St. Maarten Hotel

I also have heard very good things about the Sonesta, and although its all-inclusive, its on the fairly expensive side of the available choices during prime time periods. I do hear its runs a great special in August/Sept during low season...One nice this is that its also close to a number of...

    Saba or Bonaire?

I can't provide a true comparison between your 2 choices, but having visited Saba twice and researched Bonaire, you have certainly picked 2 different styles of a vacation. To start with, Bonaire has wonderful beach diving. Saba has no beach diving. Bonaire at least has beaches. SABA only...

    St. Maartens/Sint Martin & Saba 2013

Can't speak as to the diving on St. Maarten, but while on Saba I did talk with several Saba regulars from St. Maarten that much prefer the diving on Saba as compared to than on St. Maarten. Be sure you visit if you end up in St. Maarten. Only a 15 minute flight, and the low level altitude...

    Heading to Belize!!

Having been to Belize multiple times, I have only good things to say about Rudy Duran and his Island Divers shop. For the last 5 years we have been with them for a week in early April. Small boats, adequate bottom time, safety conscious, and not too restrictive. Will pick you up from any dock...

Sunset Beach Condos, South San Pedro

A Third Strong vote for Rudy Duran and his Island Divers. Although I won't be diving with them this spring, I've been with them for the last 4+ years. They are a "only hold your hand if you want them to" dive shop that keeps a watchful eye. Good divemasters and small boats.

Room recommendations at Anthony's Key Resort?

Key Superior with Air conditioning is nice combination. You will have a wonderful time.

Any dive shops that do not chum the water or handle marine life?

How about using only lion fish remains for the chumming. Then all the baby reef fish would be happy too.

    Favourite Dive Shop in Belize?

You'll certainly get lots of comments on this topic as everyone has their own favorites. My personal favorite is Island Divers on Ambergris. My wife and I have been diving with Rudy Duran and his group for a number of years now. We usually make a yearly trip in the Spring. His boats have...

    Belize Trip Report

The original post you referenced is over 3 years old. Might not get a reply. For what its worth, I havn't been to Coz but have made a yearly trip to Belize, particularly Ambergris Caye, for the last 7 years. Its a friendly environment, safe and the local population is happy to have the...

Looking for best place to get certified

Agreed! A while back I made some comments regarding Scuba School Belize: Come on Guys- You can't edify yourself and it doesn't do any good to toot your own horn. A good friend told me once, "There's no such thing as "Business Ethics", you either have ethics or you don't." I guess time...
