I'm in the market for a new 5mm wetsuit and I've heard some pretty good things about Waterproof wetsuits. Anyone own or have any experience with this brand and specifically with the Waterproof W1 5mm?
Thanks.
I'm wondering are there any new advisories for no-fly times for multiple trimix dives in the 75m-90m range over about 5-7 consecutive days (one/day)? Last time I checked there was at least a 24hr interval recommended before flying for multiple dives over several days, referring more to live...
My wife and I are going to be doing some equipment shopping and one of the items on her list is a BCD. She's a very experienced diver but believe it or not, has never actually owned her own gear except a wetsuit, fins and mask.
So I'm wondering... does it really make a difference if she gets...
I'm putting some new line on my primary and decided to go with the Hi-viz Dacron line. Has anyone had a chance to compare the orange and yellow lines? Which actually shows up better inside a wreck?
I need some extra storage space for safety spools, spare mask, slates, etc. As I dive in a wetsuit with a BP&W, I was considering either diving shorts with cargo pockets or the thigh pockets that can be strapped/glued around the thigh. I'm not crazy about adding the extra neoprene and...
I dive in warm water so don't need heat insulation... just something that can help protect from cuts and abrasions on the wreck, and allow for enough flexibility in manipulating gear and lines easily.
Any recommendations?
What are the limits/guidelines you have regarding the number of staged decompression dives per day?
Will you allow yourself to do more than one deco dive/day in moderate ranges (45-55mm) or approx. 15-25min of deco?
What about your daily limits limits on deeper dives in the hypoxic range...
There was an interesting thread on here a while back "cutting the cord" that got my interest. I need a new primary light for wreck diving (burn time about 2-4 hours ) and so far have checked out the Sola and the Dive Rite. Both look great so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience...
Anyone using them on your primary Wreck/Cave reels (or shooting a bag)? Looking at a new primary and a jump/safety line... was wondering if it's worth checking out? Seems like a good idea.
I'll be doing some NDL dives over a few days with a buddy who's on a Suunto Vyper and was wondering if anyone has actually been able to closely match NDL times on their Petrel with other dive comuters?
I understand that computers using different algorithms will have different NDL times and...
Just wondering what cutting tools you're taking down with you on these dives. A serrated blunt knife and a Z-kine? Two Trilobites? Shears and a knife? etc..
So I've gotten to the point where the extra length is bugging me. I like the feel of the straps and don't want to use bungee or o-rings etc.. so was wondering if anyone has done the cut and melt the ends with a lighter method?
I saw another thread on this but just wanted to see if anyone...
I have been using it on my laptop but was considering getting the iPhone version.... the only thing is that I've read it's not as complete as the laptop version and some of the features are missing (i.e. lost gas , deeper longer, running from the same profile) and it's not quite as polished...
So has anyone tried out the new digital compass on the Petrel 2 (or upgraded firmware)?
Would like to hear some of your thoughts i.e. readability, sensitivity, accuracy and stability etc.. ?
Ive been seeing quite a few Closed Circuit Rebreathers on boats lately and finding the technology and diving approach quite fascinating. I know very little about rebreathers except for a very basic understanding of the concept and designs. I've done a search but couldn't really find any...
I'm finding that the STA that comes with the Halcyon BP & Wing is durable and well made but a little tall (raising the tank higher off the wing) . This tends to cause me to turtle a little when using heavier tanks and sometimes it feels a little wobbly and unbalanced. Does anyone know of a...
I just came across this sidemount system on the Halcyon site:
Halcyon Contour SM | Halcyon
I wonder what implications this may have regarding GUE configurations/training on sidemount systems ?
I was wondering how you use your Petrel for deco stop dives?
Are you:
1. Cutting tables with deco software then setting your Petrel in Technical mode and just following Run Times? (backup tables on slate)
2. Cutting tables with deco software then setting your Petrel to Gauge mode? (tables...
