Hi all, i have a question about dive practice. I was recently on a dive trip in Maldives and quite disappointed with one of the dive. We were promised a "shark dive" at one of the channels with strong incoming current so we were quite excited. The dive operator always has a fixed dive...

    Opening a dive center

Tell me why can't new divers dive in a remote place. Back your opinion with a fact or stats. Why? Second, we're talking about how many BCs of different sizes to purchase to cater different sizes of people.

Hello Kyra, thank you for the feedback. I will keep in mind to have larger tanks ready and have the briefing written somewhere even though it's just a summary of the briefing. I think it's been established that having a written format can be more effective for some people thus increases safety...

    Opening a dive center

Hi Widget, thank you for the reply. I think we both have the exact same idea. I do care about guests satisfaction and provide DIN valve but in our region, yoke is the primary valve and that's why we're going to go with yoke. Having a flexible guest like you is always a pleasure. =) I agree as...

Hi Lewisevans, thanks for the reply. Yes of course. It's called save-a-dive bag. usually we have two for different sizes. It is definitely a must have. We also plan to have spare o-rings (for cameras), mouthpieces, etc.

    Opening a dive center

Hi PhatDiver, thanks for the reply. You live in Shanghai? I used to live in Zhongshan park. And yes, the people there pay tons of money to dive, this is why we're trying to open a dive center and hopefully to get a slice of the cake. We are not trying to be penny pinchers. It's just we are not...

    Opening a dive center

Thank you! That's what I thought. I don't understand why he said people won't try scuba diving in a remote area if it's beautiful and filled with tons of healthy corals and marine life right in front of the resort.

    Opening a dive center

Thank you, Frosty. This is my first time hearing about Atlantis BCs. I googled it and it looked really good and rugged. I also agree with you regarding supply line. This is also another reason I can't go with BP and wings because we will have difficulties ordering, shipping, setting up...

    Opening a dive center

I just disagreed with the opinion. I can't disagree with other people's opinion? Have a look at that post again, he didn't give any useful feedback other than "something very wrong..." and "new divers do not seek their first scuba experience in a remote area." Do you have a fact or stats that...

Hi jonhall, thanks for the input. I can understand the convenience having a cc machine on the boat. In case if you want to add a third or fourth dive to your existing package, you can always pay on the spot.

I agree. I still prefer weight belts in general. Losing a weight pocket in a remote area is not really a good situation. Would you share your personal/favorite "holy grail" setup as rental gear? Thank you.

I thought about that, too. I think mares bcs come with whistles, mine does, I don't know other brands. And we definitely need to invest in some smbs as well. Thanks.

This is the coolest thing I've heard today. I would love to have this kind of setup when I have my own place some day. =)

I would hate to do (digging in the bins) that and it looks really unprofessional to customers.

Hi Steve, do you by any chance have a picture of this place? Sorry I'm having a hard time picturing the place. I lack imagination and logic. =p

Hi, thanks for the reply. I would love to have one of those, or Nautilus lifeline. However, I don't think our center can afford it at the moment. =(

Hi, thanks for the reply. This is actually a good feedback. When I did my DM, I noticed the senior DMs drew maps of dive sites, wrote some infos about them on a whiteboard which I thought was good so people who forgot could always go back to see it.

Hi Giffenk, thanks for the reply. I don't mind both discussions happening. I've seen dive centers doing that, drying the BCs under sunlight before putting them back to equipment room but I have also seen dive centers just put wet/damp BCs straight to the equipment room. Any pros and cons?
