You beat me to it. I was born and raised in Barbados, never dove there, wasn't even interested in diving until recently. But that was a big part of my initial motivation to dive. But next time I'm home...definitely!!
It may have been on the shelf there for a while, i can't imagine that being a mover. I buy mine on ebay and try to find a seller that has newer batteries.

Mk, how old was the battery? Lithiums usually have a pretty long shelf life. I'd like to get a Petrel too, besides being an awesome dive comp, I really like the battery flexibility.
They are beasts! I got to shoot one a few years ago. I was at the indoor range and everytime the guy in the stall next to me shot, there was a huge flash and I felt the concussion. I asked the guy what he was shooting and he showed me this 1911 on steroids, then asked me if I wanted to shoot it...
The TDI course took me about a week picking at it from time to time. It really isn't difficult. I answered the questions as I read, but how fast you go through it will depend on what you know now and how fast you read. In one thorough sitting I'd say 4-5 hrs maybe?
