Best Caribbean island for abundant marine life

If you do go to Roatan, try the Aggressor there. I just did 2 weeks aboard her in January. It's a great boat with an amazing crew. And the French chef makes some of the best food that you will ever eat on a live-aboard! Yes, the fish life is a bit light, but the reef structures are excellent.

Oceanic VEO2 Read this if you own one.

Hmmm, lets see...because I bought a CR2450 3V battery, which is what the owners manual calls for and also was printed on the old battery. What method do you use to replace batteries? As for the replacement O-ring, it was field tested on 40 dives of a 2 week trip to Roatan, which included several...

Oceanic VEO2 Read this if you own one.

I've been diving this computer for about 2 years now, I like it. However, the second time I needed to change the battery and decided to also replace the compartment O-ring, (which is recommended with each battery change - though I did reuse the O-ring on the first batt change), I discovered...

Travel time by road in the keys

The Keys are an awesome, fun place to visit. And the diving can be spectacular, especially the big wrecks. Dives on the Spiegel Grove and USS Vandenburg are NOT to be missed. As for traveling along the roads, don't consider them major highways, i.e. 60mph, and it'll be fine. Just leave...

    Recommendations for liveaboards

I've been on 6 Aggressor boats, and 10 live-aboards total, and they always had a DM in the water on every dive. It's your choice if you want to follow them or not. And they ALWAYS end the dives back at the boat. It's a basic service provided on these types of trips.

Any feedback on the Roatan Aggressor?

I've just returned from a 2week trip aboard the Roatan Aggressor. I'm a seasoned live-aboard traveler, and will say...It's a great boat, with a great crew! I'm told that may/june is a nice time of year for there.

    PADI "Looking Good" Certification

"What I was objecting to was the statement that "everything" is covered in OW and "nothing" can be gained by any further training." Tursiops, you have taken my words and changed them around to invalidate my remarks, who's naive now?

I just watched this on Netflix, it was pure Hollywood garbage. Silly and dumb.

    First time to 60 feet

Are you kidding? AOW doesn't mean much?! it DOES to the dive shop operator/dive boat captain that is taking you out to "advanced" dive sites! The card doesn't mean much if the person holding it isn't qualified to wield it, but it means a lot to the "supposed" expected experience of the diver...

    PADI "Looking Good" Certification

The dive industry had gotten so ridiculous with all of the specialty courses that they offer nowadays. Night diver, wreck diver, etc., it's all about money for them. I earned my open-water "C" card in 1988, and since then have watched the industry churn out students that are so scared of...

    First time to 60 feet

Luke, Sorry, but I find your post very disturbing. It's ok to be a new diver, we all were at one point. All of your dives thus far have only been to 35'?...why? and why were you so quick to apply for advanced certification? if you are "a little scared" to go below 35' you don't deserve to hold...

Fiji - Nai'i Or Aggressor Liveaboard?

I can't speak to Nai'i, but I did the Fiji Aggressor in May of this year. It was my 8th liveaboard adventure and my 5th Aggressor boat, so I know a bit about the lifestyle. The ship is nice, as are all of the Aggressor boats that I've been on. She did however need some TLC, but we were told...

    First Liveaboard Trip, Cayman Aggressor

I just got back from a trip aboard the Cayman Aggressor, Jan. 11-18, 2014. It was a week of great diving, great food and great people and crew. The boat goes to the Brac and Little Cayman depending on the weather. The Captain and crew will do everything in their power to give you the best...
