    Considering Back Inflate

One big advantage that hasn't been mentioned is that a back-plate and wing is much better in shore diving. The harness on a back-plate is like a good backpack, secure and stable. By comparison a jacket BC is very loose and unstable; climbing into the the water down a slope in a jacket BC feels...

Rec open water ascents, trim and the team

Your current buddies might not be able to do a slow assent in the last 10 feet. But your could remind them that it is their interest to do the slow assent because the assent after the safety stop is the most critical and should be the slowest. No one should be "popping" to the surface in the...

    Buying Regulators - Recommendations Please

The criteria, in order of importance, for my purchase was: local quality service; stable manufacturer; suitable for winter/ice conditions; and, best value. Alternative undergarments

I use Micro fleece underwear from Costco, a wool sweater and fleece track pants under a DC Trilaminate. It worked fine till the water froze. I have also used cycling tights instead of track pants, the wool ones without zippers.

    DIY Weight pouches

I just thread a solid weight through the tank strap just like on a weight belt. My BC has two tank bands and the tank does not slip.

Is the Trans-Pac ok for recreational diving?

I dive a single with a plate and a 36 lb wing, Halcyon. It is far better than any jacket BC. Much more stable and balanced. But there aren't any pockets.
