Apart from a JJ CCR, what else do I need to order?

@waiver Forgot to mention the Compact IP gauge. https://www.divegearexpress.com/compact-ip-gauge-psi-and-bar This will be convenient when going through the JJ's checklist and it asked to verify both dil and O2 IPs.

Apart from a JJ CCR, what else do I need to order?

    1) JJ-CCR Head/Sensor Protector - to protect head when drying/traveling/etc - example: JJCCR Head Protector | Rebreathers USA 2) Spare - Ultralife Solenoid Battery - backup --> Other 9-Volt batteries are not shape the same and probably won't fit in the JJ-CCR Head. 3) Spare - AA Battery 4)...

    DIR- Generic "DIR Approved" Regulators

On two occasions, a dive buddy using the A700 puked in his reg underwater and was forced to switch regulators and complete his deco on his backup, which was also an A700. Luckily he did fill is backup with breakfast/lunch.

JJ CCR Scrubber Radial? vs Axial

Just comparing the normal canister scrubbers to one another: The axial scrubber holds 2.3kg (THE JJ-CCR REBREATHER – JJ-CCR VERSATILE REBREATHER). The radial scrubber holds 3kg (JJ-CCR Radial Scrubber). Thus in theory, the radial scrubber's extra 0.7kg allows for an extended scrubber duration...

    Tech/GUE CCR/RB80 Configuations - Wing Choice

@tbone1004 . Thank you for the response and mentioning the DR Classic XT. It was not on my radar. Also your experience with the GUE JJ wing reinforces my thoughts. Happy Holidays.

    Tech/GUE CCR/RB80 Configuations - Wing Choice

@PfcAJ. Thank you for the response . Since I have never dove an RB80,but I am familiar with the physics behind how it works. I was curios to learn from your experience. Mentioning a depth just began the conversation with a dive that would require several stages/deco bottles and require thought...

    Tech/GUE CCR/RB80 Configuations - Wing Choice

@PfcAJ , When your diving in the ocean at depths greater than 75m (250ft), do you feel the wing you are using is providing sufficient lift?

    Tech/GUE CCR/RB80 Configuations - Wing Choice

Thank you @Imla , @RedSix , and @MattK911 for you feedback, This is for a JJ with lp50s (D7s). I picked up a custom Halycon CCR (listed at 35lbs/15.8kg?) wing, but after more thought I was concerned that it wouldn't provide enough lift in some failure scenarios depending on which gases I was...

    Tech/GUE CCR/RB80 Configuations - Wing Choice

Hi All, Interested in learning from those that are dive a CCR in the GUE/Tech configration. Which wing are you currently diving and which other wings have you tried? What went into the your decision to use one over another? Various variables that come to mind are: lift capacity, hose...

DIR- Generic Balancing rig with wetsuit and doubles

Yeah, I usually get thrown in the lake of fire when I start getting on my soap box discussing using the metric system versus the "inferical" system. Hopefully, I don't get thrown in for diving in board shorts or dropping a tank on the SG.

DIR- Generic Balancing rig with wetsuit and doubles

Not exclusive to the SG: Depends on who I am diving with, what other gear I'm/team are dealing with (scooter, cameras, survey tools, etc), and the plan/goals for the dive. I try to remain as flexible as possible without sacrificing safety and goals/mission of the dive. Diving is a hobby that I...

DIR- Generic Balancing rig with wetsuit and doubles

My standard config for summer diving in Key Largo/Pompano FL is either a 3mm or board shorts w/ a rash guard for all dives with Al80s and Al stages. If I think I might get chilly, I'll throw on a hood. In the Red Sea, I've done multiple dives >60m in similar exposure suits. A big variable...

    Training time in Open Water

At the time, when I took UTD's overhead protocols, OHP (2012), it was the pre-cursor class a diver took before selecting whether they wished to pursue Cave and/or Wreck training. I combined OHP with UTD Cave 1 which in theory would be similar (5-6 days) in length to GUE's Cave 1 (someone will...

DIR- GUE Why are non-GUE divers so interested in what GUE does?

After completing courses from GUE's red headed step-child, I was told the secret to overcoming the current was trim and bake-beans before diving.... but for some reason the bake-beans don't work on the Hydro or the St. Lawrence River....
