Anyone tried Stump Pass or Blind Pass?

I've snorkeled a bunch off our beach and the week of July 4th is always the clearest. I often can see the bottom from my kayak over 10 feet (length of my paddle straight down as far as I can reach guesstimate!) Now...if I'm in the gulf in my kayak that means winds out of the east and flat seas...

Michael, We're going to be doing a shore dive off Manasota Key next week (June 30 - July 5th). 5 in my family. We'll go 2 at a time with a couple kayaks to drag us out to deeper water. PM for my cell number. You're welcome to come out with us. No idea what we'll see. Just looking for...

Anyone tried Stump Pass or Blind Pass?

My wife and 15 year old got down last night. They are sending photos now. Looks like we have beach again in front of our place and they said the water is warm and very clear. I plan to use our kayaks and my other boys to drag us way out then we'll drop down and have a look around. (We've never...

Anyone tried Stump Pass or Blind Pass?

2019 Update: We'll be at Manasota Key for the 4th this year. Looking to do a beach dive. Any thoughts if better to use Blind Pass beach or any beach access off the Key going to produce the same results? Thanks, Sidney

Anyone tried Stump Pass or Blind Pass?

How long of swim out? I have a place about at the county line on Manasota Key and wondered if it'd be worth a swim out or better to take a boat operator out of Venice. Not sure I'd want to dive Stump Pass. Current can be crazy with lots of boat traffic. Sidney

    Shore diving at Presidente?

Are you asking about the Intercontinental Presidente? If so, then yes. I stayed there last November but only snorkeled. However there were others that were scuba diving right off the beach between the restaurants and other off the concrete docks.

    First Timer Advice

My wife and I were in Cozumel November 2016. Stayed at the Presidente Intercontinental. It's part of IHG so we used points and stayed (4) days for free. (We weren't scuba certified, nor did we use the on site dive op or docks, but the snorkeling here is why we got certified in 2017) This would...

    Southwest florida new diver

My family and I did our first boat dive after certification over Thanksgiving week with Ocean Divers in Key Largo. We had a guide with us and most everyone stayed together in a group. I wouldn't worry much about a Dive Buddy if I stayed with one of the mentioned operations in Key Largo. Sidney
