Personally I don't like self-donning suits, had one and didn't like the zipper in front, seemed to get in the way of things
A zipper in the back can still be closed without any help. It's not that hard, just hook the leash on something and carefully slide the zipper shut.

When I first started out I had a QD and mounted a knife on the pocket.
Lost the knife the first dive.
I say get a cheap knife, $10, that you can throw away or don't care that it gets lost and place it in a simple sheath onb your waist belt.
I have a drysuit for a sale. $800 for an Xl compressed neo Diving Concepts. Normally 1500 selling used about 40 times for 800.
I agree with the other suggestions that you may want to get some DS time under your belt before the ice diving.
This is a cold water question, air & water temps 30s or less
Of the major types of drysuit material out there, tri-lam, neo, crushed, rubber, etc., which would provide the best warmth inbetween dives?
The pro cd isn't that buoyant, not as much as I expected -- I had one and switched to a bp/w after about 20 dives. Got a pro-fit but now use hog. I suggest an oxy sig series, maybe dss, oms (those I have tried and all good) Haven't tried transpac but they look funky to me
I never rinse my reg unless under pressure.
I did once soak one in a bucket by mistake. Didn't realize the reg was in there.
So I let it dry with the cap off. No issues. If it had been soaked in salt water, I would have had the thing taken apart and cleaned.
If you always rinse...
Looks kinda small to me.
I have both a dive kayak and a surf kayak.
I suggest not compromising your dive kayak for an occasional surfing. Get what you need for diving and then if you can surf in it, that's great too.
I have an oxy sig series wing whose inflator button on the inflator is sticking a bit. Took it to an LDS and they want to replace it for $40 bucks with a scubapro inflator versus cleaning. They say cleaning is not worth the money and the problem could occur again.
Is this the right choice...
I don't know whether closed beaches equate to No Diving Allowed. I doubt it.
If you have a class or something I'd call the local PD.
Maybe you will get lucky and see a shark
