    PADI vs. SDI

One vote for TDI/SDI. My OW was PADI, but since then I have counted on SDI. My old PADI shop seemed more intent on selling than teaching. I work with a girl who has her PADI RD. She can't, and hasn't ever been able to dive without a close partner. PADI did give her the Rescue Diver...

Snorkeling with humpbanks in the Silverbank

The T & C website has lots of diving info. Is diving allowed in this area (non-whale)? I've done shark diving (open), and a whale shark encounter and am trying to get on one of these trips as well. Thanks

Carnival Victory Feb 27 - Mar 6 2011 dive ops?

In St. Maarten, Dive Safaris will pick you up near the cruise ship dock. A couple of times a week, they do a shark dive, on a reef just outside that area, which is pretty cool. Saba, only 30 miles away, offers incredible diving, but not sure how to do it on such a quick visit. Have a ball.

Saint Martin Grand Case Check Dive?

I have done a dozen or so dives with Dive Safaris out of Simpson Bay Lagoon. The shark dive is my usual I would guess. Single tank, and a lot of moving around but so worth the trip. Here are the SXM sharks I did a shark dive off of P.N.G. a few years back which was incredible as well...

Which dive op in Cabo? Amigos Del Mar?

For anyone that has seen whale sharks or done the offshore dives from Cabo- I want to swim with some sharks this fall. Whale sharks would be #1 but I am willing to settle for hammerheads. I do get to swim with the reef sharks in St. Maarten all winter, well once a week anyway. I have an...

    Shark Attack - Fact

The first few years that I dove, I stayed out of the water at the mention of sharks. Thanks to lots of study and lots of cool shark experiences, wild and semi-controlled, I love and respect sharks. YouTube - Sharrrrks

Planning a trip to Mozambique/South Africa

We were there in May. Had a great time although it was a bit rough some of the days. If you want to go and do ocean safari or surf, the areas closest to Tofo are the best. The areas on the Barra Reef are closer to some of the dive spots, but a long rubber boat ride from the area most likely...

    Mozambique - Bali Hai Lodge?

I stayed for five nights at Bali Hai in May. The staff was great. The caretaker/manager couple could not have been nicer. The parrot was great. The dog was great. The rooms are ample size; not too big or small. I would have preferred a better reading light but that was my only complaint...

    Trip report - Mozambique

"his group of very tired but lucky divers had to swim around 6 km back to shore" Have you ever actually swam 6 km to shore? The point is, that the poster is not really who they say they are now, see? I speak English, German, some Spanish, and a bit of a few others. Whichever language I...
