Please help me find 'freedom' backplate!!

Hi Scubaboard, I need your help! I'm a CA commercial urchin diver and I need a freedom backplate. This is the best backplate for my kind of work and I need to find another one! If you have one, or know of somebody who does, I will pay top dollar for it. Thank you very much.

Check out my new (to me) old tank...

It is 2250. Although it was originally plus-rated, I have yet to find a place around here that tests for the + (believe I've looked hi and low). Anyways not a big deal if you find the right tank jockey. The place where I bought it has a pair of galvanized 50s, but rated for 1800 psi with 3/4"...

Check out my new (to me) old tank...

I just picked up a really nice galvanized steel 50 with a fresh hydro (last week!). I've got a couple steel 72s, and I love them, so when I came across this thing I just couldnt pass it up. I had this super nice "K-style" 1/2" pipe thread valve laying around from one of my old steel 72s that...

Quick question about my old 1/2" valve

I have an old 1/2" tapered valve that came off one of my steel 72's that didnt pass hydro. I acquired another old steel 72 and I want to put this valve on it, because the valve is literally perfect, worked great in the past, not a scratch on it, just shines....except there is a small crack that...

How much more weight when you go up in wetsuit size?

Hey guys, I'm 6' 170lbs, and fairly lean (i'm a sinker). Anyways, I've been diving a SS backplate (5#), a steel 72, and 5 lbs of lead on my belt with a 4 mm fullsuit. The water is getting colder now, and I'm gonna wear a 7mm suit. I'm wondering about how many pounds I need to add to compensate...

    Steel Tank Question

i have the same one you're talking about it. It's a coyne and mine is galvanized. its a great tank. I haven't been able to find the buoyancy characteristics on it though, but I'd guess 6~8 lbs negative when full. I like it. A bit heavy, but holds gobs of gas.

i just reread your post spectrum and now I understand....

    Opinions on older HP80?

the neck on this tank definitely looks narrower than normal. It's not a pipe thread or anything. So I take it this is a different size then? Nate

    Opinions on older HP80?

I am considering picking up a used HP80 (in hydro). It's an '89 and I think it might be a pressed steel, it has a sherwood 6300 din valve (that angled back one). It's galvanized and looks pretty nice. I was wondering: 1) What's the current deal with the exemption on PST tanks, should I avoid...

    What IP Gauge to buy?

Well, just finished overhauling my first conshelf 2nd stage (I have 4!). Super easy, it was a breeze, and the only tool I had to buy was some circlip pliers. Now I want to overhaul 1 of my 2 Conshelf 1st stages, so I was checking out scubatools.com but couldn't decide what IP gauge I need. I'd...

Oceanic Hose protectors, where to buy?

My searches have told me that oceanic hose protectors are the best if you're going to use 'em, but I can't find 'em on-line anywhere? I'd like to see a picture/sizing, where I can buy, etc... thanks! Nate

Just got some tanks...tell me what to do!

I actually have some extra "newer" thermo valves from some luxfer al80's that I recycled...I've just never taken a valve apart before, are their specific torque measurements or anything? thanks

Just got some tanks...tell me what to do!

I'm all excited now. I hope they pass. As far as my vinegar idea, anyway that could hurt anything? I'm kinda interested to try it, if nothing else but as a science experiment kinda thing... About the valves, how much $$ does a typical overhaul run? And, would parts for the pipe thread valve be...

Just got some tanks...tell me what to do!

i think im going to take them to pacific wilderness in san pedro. the guys in the so cal forum say the place is really good. they're a scuba shop but they do hydros in house. i think a hydro, tumble, and vip is $35. As for as rebuilding valves, is there any way to do it myself? Maybe some...
