    How do you do it?

To further what Coach Izzy mentioned, about micro-progressions, boredom, challenges, and pushing one self. Although it takes a little more planning, both long term and for the next workout, make each workout a different challenge for yourself. Mentally it should be a challenge to push through...

Tips on excercises for better frog and back kick?

Other than the obvious 'time in the pool', there are the basic squats and lunges. Start slow with only your bodyweight, then slowly add resistance. Moving on to back squat, front squat, deadlift and when your ready the olympic lifts {clean, jerk, snatch}. I highly recommend getting a trainer who...

    Sausage reel...

For a dive marker, I use a reel. For my safety sausage, I don't use anything but line. I have a 40' line that is tied into a chain sinnet about 10' long and is tucked with the folded safety sausage into the space between my back pad and plate. It is easy to deploy as it is folded not to tangle...

    Cross training questions

Since it's been mentioned a couple of times, a little note on Crossfit. It's not just a new workout plan or fitness class, it's a methodology! Crossfit is a 'general preparedness program' and you can do it as prescribed {and that works great}, but if you have specific needs or goals it is highly...

Decline bench, incline bench, flat bench

What you are mainly doing with the decline and incline bench is changing the ROM {range of motion} for the exercise. You are also moving the 'heavy' working parts of the delts. Incline = more upper delts, decline, more arms less delts. Unless you are into bodybuilding, changing the bench...

    Mustache and diving

I have what I think is a good sized stash, and I don't use any products. I have become very good at manually clearing my mask ~ it's just second nature. Usually once I'm past 40' there are no more leaks, it's generally a shallow dive issue.

    When to train?

Biggest thing would be to listen to your body! If your feeling tired, then you are tired and need a rest! Before you talk with DAN, you should know what type of fitness program you will be working on. All cardio, strength training, mixing it up, sport conditioning, etc. Also, what level of...

    Citrus Marinade for Grilling

This is very close to my planked salmon. I use a little less lemon juice, add orange juice and orange marmalade. Then bbq'd on a soaked cedar plank. I like it when great cooking minds think alike....

    Heart Rates

If your taking beta blockers, then you really need to talk with your doctor {who is probably telling you to exercise anyway} about the effects of beta blockers and actually reading your heart rate. You may also want to talk with a personal trainer, one who has experience with this, to get you...

    Stained Glass Diver Down Flags

Heh, it's a nice way to pay for ones hobbies. Unfortunatly I can't order one with a mother-in-law that makes her own stained glass art. One, we have lots already {not complaining, it is nice stuff} and two it would be family-political suicide for me to order from someone else. Cheers

    Scuba Chef's Corner

Olive oil is great for low heat and quick fry ups, stir fry or pasta mix. It does not like high heat, thus when the situation calls for I switch to peanut oil. Also a great flavour additive. Of course, be carefull for friends and family that may not be able to take in peanut products.
