Looking for advice on IDC/Tech training and working in Thailand for a year

I am planning a trip to Thailand for next year and would like to start off with an IDC internship that would hopefully lead to work for the rest of the year, either with the same company or elsewhere. I have started taking decompression courses and would like to further my technical training as...

What tanks for Doubles? 100s or bigger?

The doubles dives were pretty cool, took a bit of getting used to though. With a single tank I only used my drysuit for buoyancy on the bottom but I found that the weight of the doubles was better offset with my wing and then just used the drysuit inflater to remove the squeeze. Easy on the way...

Where to harvest crab near Vancouver BC

Hi All, I have harvested crabs through the use of traps and even walking around in chest waders but these have been done in lousy places to dive. Does anyone know of good places to dive for crab near the lower mainland of BC? Thanks! Brandon

What tanks for Doubles? 100s or bigger?

Hi All, sorry I lost this thread but I appreciate everyones input and concern. I have been diving since 97 and haven't had a dive log until last year when I decided I wanted to do the divemaster course, which I am currently doing. I didn't start logging dives until last year and have 85 or so...

Thanks for the replies, I also found this thread helpful: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/tanks-valves-bands/274722-single-doubles.html I think the HP100s suit my needs.

What tanks for Doubles? 100s or bigger?

I am about to buy a pair of steel 100s to double up with plans to take the tech 1 course based on the advice of one dive professional, but the shop I am planning on buying the tanks from insists that I should get the biggest tanks I can if I am going to go tech. I am an average diver with an...

Bought a Drysuit - Need new Reg for additional inflator hose

I am diving an aqualung conshelf 14 and the first stage only has 3 low pressure ports. I just bought a dry suit and need an additional inflater hose. Is anyone aware of a Tee fitting that would allow me to connect 2 hoses to one port? or Does anyone have a suitable first stage they can...

Moving to Tasmania - Employment Opportunities for a dive Instructor in Hobart?

I am moving there for a girl:) I was hoping to live a bit of a minimalist lifestyle for a while and focus more on doing what I love. Engineering is good money but a guy can only design so many brackets before he looses interest. I am 28 and not really into the nightlife anymore so no issue...

    Regulator servicing

I just got word back on my regs that there is a washer missing from the primary second stage, the spring has been stretched, presumably because it had lost some spring rate, and it had a regular nut on the adjustment lever instead of a nylock nut. I personally can't stomach the idea of some...

Don't be afraid...COMPLAIN about your LDS

I'm just glad I didnt jump in as the second post, lol. Soo tempted to spill the beans. What I will say, is that I contacted Ocean Quest Dive Centre in Burnaby BC and was blown away by a half hour long conversation I had with the owner Greg. Greg is a Padi course director. Even after...

Another Noob 'What should I do' thread

Hi Ed, I brought up the high price with them and was told that they get the service kits cheaper in the states from the manufacturers; I'm not about to question that. They also said that the conshelf is dated so when I found a place that likes them and thinks they are decent regs...

What did you buy that you regret?

OK, thanks. No point in inviting hazards in this sport. I was thinking about the economy of owning your own tanks, you definately need to dive a lot to make it worth while, at the recreational level anyways. With the purchase price, anual vis and hydros, all to save $5 per dive. Anyone...
