    Mooring balls on Oahu

I am staying near Waikiki and would like to find a good dive site with mooring ball to moor my boat to and do a couple dives. Is there a website that lists dive mooring balls, or other local knowledge? Thanks, Jeff

    Lost weight pockets at Breakwater

I meant the breakwater rocks, but I wasn't on the dive. She said it was near the end of the breakwater, about 120 feet away from the wall into the sand.

    Lost weight pockets at Breakwater

Hi, My friend was diving Breakwater on thanksgiving day and had to dump her weights due to a BC malfunction (she's ok). This occurred near the end of the rocks in ~40 FSW. There are two Oceanic pockets with 10 lbs weight each. If anyone finds them, she would be grateful for their return (PM...

Dive Operator on the Big Island?

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for a dive boat on the Big Island during xmas week this year. I'm a pretty experienced diver (450+ dives) and a photographer. Ideally would like a smaller boat that caters to more experienced divers. FWIW I've dove Jack's and Sandwich Isle. I did the manta...

Cold water diving is a PITA

If you decide to try again, I'd encourage you to do a boat dive. I dive Monterey pretty frequently and find myself less and less drawn to shore diving, for many of the reasons you mention - the long haul wearing gear, surf entry and exit, lack of in-water support, etc. Also, Monterey diving is...

    MacDive Anyone?

I use MacDive for logging all my dives. It has some quirks but overall it's pretty good. I don't think it will import Excel format directly, but it does import UDDF. UDDF is an ascii dive data format, so if you can massage your data into this format, you can import it. Now, unless you can do a...

    Marine Bio course with diving

I'm going to plug this because I've taken it. Dr Grass is very knowledgable and has a wonderful teaching style. As a diver taking the class, you have the option to do several dives with the class where you survey the marine life. Highly recommended.

Lost Sola 1200 @ Pescadero yesterday

UPDATE: The light has been found and returned to its worried owner! After several weeks underwater, it still had charge and is working great. Many thanks go out to Sanctuary Mike and Paula, and Scuba Fusion Dan.

Lost Sola 1200 @ Pescadero yesterday

Those numbers are from my iPhone. Mike said he'd get the numbers from the Sanctuary's GPS next time he's on the boat (hopefully that'll be this weekend). When he does I'll update the thread. Thanks for your help on this.

Lost Sola 1200 @ Pescadero yesterday

Hey folks - I lost my beloved L&M Sola 1200 dive light over the side of the Sanctuary near Pescadero Point yesterday. It's the "Dive" model with blue trim as shown here: LIGHT & MOTION || SOLA 1200 DIVE. We were in the vicinity of 36.558 -121.951 (the stern of the boat was moving around a bit...

    Aeris Atmos 2 mount

Thanks for the tip, gismonkey - hope you are enjoying your VT4! I didn't want to do that, because I was going diving that weekend and wanted to be sure I had a way to get back to the old mount in case the new mount didn't work out (it did, yay!). Here's how I did it with my VT3 (mostly for...

    Aeris Atmos 2 mount

Reheating this old thread. Tobin, I have a VT3 that has no plan to come out of the original boot. Tried hot water 3 times, and nearly ripped my fingernails out. Do you start with the lip end or one of the other sides? Is it more of a push from the back, or pulling down on the boot? Any more...

    Diving in Monterey this weekend

Did you say DiveYak? I can't make it this weekend because I'll be out of town. However, I'm looking for folks who are interested in kayak diving - my regular yak diving buddy moved away last year so I haven't been out on the yak in tooooo long.
