Dive Buddy wanted for Cave Country

I am in Melbourne, FL this week and looking for a dive buddy at one of the central FL springs. I am only open-water certified, so I'm just looking to get wet. I have dove at Blue Springs, Alexander Springs, and Devil's Den. Thanks!

    Lake Fontana diving?

This is great info, thanks. So you're saying that you think Glenville is the best diving lake in the area? You're referring to the Lake Glenville between Cullowhee and Cashiers correct? What kind of vis can you normally expect? Is there anything of interest to see there? How does it compare with...

    Lake Fontana diving?

I have not had a chance to dive there yet, and I'm not sure if I will get to this summer. I'm hoping to, but my main dive buddy, my wife, has zero interest in diving that lake. I'm planning on this winter when the lake level is down trying to eye some structures that might be diveable. If you...

Philadelphia Quarry Open Today? Friday July 18th

I know Philadelphia Quarry is supposed to be open 24/7 year-round, but I wanted to see if anyone knew for sure it was open today (Friday July 18th). My wife and I are thinking about going and we've never been, so we didn't want to drive 2 hours and it be closed for some weird reason. I tried...

    Loch Low-Minn or Philadelphia Quarry?

Make that just one question - about the drive. My question about open during the week has already been answered - sorry!

    Loch Low-Minn or Philadelphia Quarry?

This has been helpful, but I have a couple of more questions. First, Philly is open during the week and not just on the weekends like LLM correct? Also, the info for Philly on lakediver.com says that its recommended that you don't drive to the quarry in a car. Is this accurate info? Thanks!

Pacific Northwest Divers, add your favorite dive spots

Interesting post. I'm going to be making my first trip to the pacific NW in a week. One of my ultimate dream dives is Clear Lake in Oregon. It looks amazing, but I don't own nor have a ever used a drysuit. So that dive will have to wait. I've seen a few other lakes mentioned - Waldo and Hall in...

    Lake Santeetlah, N.C.

I did a quick dive at Santeetlah yesterday. I was using the remaining air in one of my tanks, so I didn't stay down long and only went to 16ft. While I didn't go very deep, the water has warmed up a bit. The surface temp was 76 (up 7 degrees from 2 weeks ago) and the temp at 16ft was 63. I...

    Lake Fontana diving?

I went back to the lake this past weekend and was going to dive, but my kids were having such a good time playing in the water I just played with them the whole time. I didn't get an actual surface temp reading, but it felt much warmer. I'd be really surprised if the surface temp is lower than...

    Lake Fontana diving?

Hey mike_s, I'm sure there's plenty of stuff leftover from the dam construction at Fontana but you're right it's a very deep lake (the dam is 480ft tall). There are lots of buildings in the lake, and with the drought last year the lake level was so low that you could see some of them. You're...

    Lake Fontana diving?

Correction - surface temp at Santeetlah on May 28th was 70 degrees, not 80. Wishful thinking on my part I guess! :)

    Lake Fontana diving?

Actually, Santeetlah is closer to Fontana than Nantahala is (although they're all fairly close). Santeetlah is actually located in the town of Lake Santeetlah, but it's really just a small community just outside of Robbinsville. If you're coming towards Fontana from east of Fontana, you will...

Many thanks guys on your advice. I think I'll check out LLM first and try Philly on another day.

    Loch Low-Minn or Philadelphia Quarry?

I'm planning a trip to either Loch Low-Minn or Philadelphia Quarry sometime within the next month or two, and I thought I would get people's opinions on which site they prefer. I've never dove either but I plan on diving both this summer, but I want to see what you guys have to say about both...

    Lake Fontana diving?

Hello. I live near Fontana, I haven't dove Fontana before but I plan to this summer. My wife's cousin has a houseboat on the lake, and he and his wife are also certified divers. I'll probably go with them. A coworker of mine has been, and she said she couldn't see her hand in front of her face...
