A careful read of the stories shows that he was ab picking,
not ab diving, though wearing a wetsuit and weight belt.

Still a great loss.

Sounds like he let the idea of getting abalone better his common sense given the apparent conditions.

Abalone can only be taken freediving in CA - Can't do it at all down here, just up north...
