Just got back from my 3rd drysuit dive. What a difference!

I followed the advice I got manually vented some air everytime I felt my ears 'equalize' on the way up. We descended to a wreck at 49' then steadily climbed all the way to about 17' over the next 30 min as we worked our way back. Never once had a problem with taking off towards the surface :D Kept my buoyancy such that when I was breathing in very deeply I'd start to rise ever so slightly.

Loving it now!

I think for now I'll keep trying to stay _just_ a touch negative so that unless I breath in deeply I'll start to drop a bit.

Thanks for listening to my rant, but that big investment is starting to look really good :)

I normally leave the valve open until I hit a deco stop. Then I put air in the suit and drain from the wing. I stay nice and toasty that way.
