Back from the Keys. Had a good time despite a cold just before I left home that left me with sticky ears. Not diving since Jan turned out to not be a problem. I guess I've got a high enough learning plateau that it all came back very quickly.

Tried out new fins and a new dive computer and a new dive light. All but the fins worked out very well. Except somehow the new computer got some wrong buttons pushed and gave me an oxygen limit alarm for the entireity of one dive. Solution? Reset the computer and start over (I was diving with two so for the other 3 dives that day the new one was just along for the ride) The new light was very good. Best LED I've ever used.

Yesterday I was back at the gym for some lifting. Felt good since I don't exercise at all while diving since I don't want to give my body any excuse to fizz.

As of today I'm down 28# since the end of March. Two more to meet the weight challenge. This despite eating heartily while there (found a couple outstanding local restaurants).

Gee, did everyone just go away? Give UP? I sure hope not. Personal fitness is way too valuable to give up on.

You may notice I changed my goal from -25 to -30. Not there yet. But, I'm close. Those of you who started this thread played a real part.

not given up just that with chrissy happening things are so flat out its crazy

ive been doing 3 sessions per week and so far eating ok but we have another barbie tonight so more entertaining!

:D

Yes, the holidays are difficult, not just from a diet and exercise perspective.

Well, I'm back and after so many loses and pain, I finally went back to the exercise machine and did a fresh 40 minute exercise.

Sigh (trucker girl comes trudging, slowly, back to the pack with her head hanging low from shame)...

ArcticDiver, thanks for the inspirational mommy-to-be stories. Physically I probably should have joined the gym but financially I just can't get myself to do it when I know I can do aerobics right here at home if I just get off my lazy butt.

Tomorrow I'll know more about the damage I did yesterday (the weight takes a day to show up, right?). I am "supposed" to have gained only 18 lbs but I had gained 22 last I checked. Not TOO bad. I've been eating a lot of junk food, though, lately. Surprise, surprise. And I don't seem to have any self control.

We also have been rearranging the house in preparation for the baby and moving the small stuff is my job since my hubby is the bread winner. The pro is that I got some exercise from that. The con is that my tv has been pretty much off limits for exercise tapes since there were tons of boxes in front of it... for over a week I did zero (0) exercising. And, as icy as it's been, I've taken the dogs on very few walks. There have been 2 days in the past couple of weeks that were not icy and were warm enough (relatively) to go on a good-size walk. Other than that, we go for about 15 minutes if it's not icy. That's about the max I can stand to be out in the wind.

So I'm going to make a point of coming back here. On Wednesday, I deemed the living room clear enough to get back to exercising. I did not exercise yesterday... but, boy, did I eat. Hubby cooked prime rib for the family and sliced me off a gigantic piece. I should have made him cut it in half but, instead, I ate the whole thing. My prenatal vitamins are over the counter and they're a tad bit lower in iron than the ones that are $50/month out of pocket (insurance covers a whopping $5! Do you believe that crap?). So when I get red meat I eat it! But add to that the dressing, scalloped potatoes, corn casserole, an extra serving of dressing, and 3 cookies for dessert... sigh.

I'm back on the wagon, guys and gals. I promise to get back into the habit of exercising and eating right for my baby!

Confessions of a bad, bad eater...

I was at Dollar General yesterday and I bought (dare I admit it?) a bag of Chips Ahoy! After my DG run I was in the car for another 10 or 15 minutes. I was hungry, so I ate. I don't know how many I ate. And, as I sit here typing this in shame, I am eating more Chips Ahoy! with a glass of milk. The milk is my justification. Can I blame the cookies on a milk craving?

Yesterday I did my Kathy Smith Pregnancy work out and today it's almost Spring-like weather and I went for a long walk with the dogs- about an hour. Sigh.

Am I the only one here or is everyone just afraid that if they post I'll show up at their house and eat their food?

Today wasn't too bad, granted, I slept most of the day. I had a bowl of cereal (Corn Chex, fat free milk, and a spoon full of sugar to help the medicine go down) and a glass of OJ. We took a long nap after church. I made tortellini soup- nothing bad in there but the cheese tortellinis and those aren't all that bad. I ate several servings because I was pretty hungry. Now if I can just make it through the evening unscathed...

I took the dogs for a walk this morning- about 15 minutes maybe. Then I did my Kathy Smith workout- maybe a 5-7 minute warm up with about 30 minutes of low key aerobics.

I'm here. It is just that with the holidays and the temperature (-25F outside as I type this and forecast to go down to -35F to -45F, depending on location) I'm a bit lethargic. But, I'm also satisfied I'm not falling too, awfully far behind on the self-discipline needed to keep the gains that have been wrenched from this body.

Over the holidays I've only gained 3 pounds and last time I was on the bike, Thursday, I did just fine. I'll head to the gym tomorrow for some lifting. Then back on the routine starting Tuesday. Also, since we are gaining daylight now that will help a lot.

Then will come the challenge of Hawaii next month.

Does the transition from Alaska to Hawaii pose any health problems... in the sense that drinking hot coffee followed by ice water puts stress on the stomach (I don't know if that's actually true- just using the scenario for demonstrative purposes)? I mean, will you survive? Lol.
