The idea is to dive with a wing no larger than what you need. If you only need 23 pounds of buoyancy or less than you most certainly don't want a 32 pound wing, not if you have the option. ....

Agreed. Streamlining has it's advantages. 17lb wing, aluminum backplate, octo on a necklace, primary reg hose routed under arm with a 90 deg adapter, pressure gauge clipped to my hip. Safety sausage in a mesh pocket attached to bottom of plate.

You will feel and move like a fish.
