Here is my take on this .....

PADI AOW
PADI Nitrox
do some diving
PADI Rescue
do some more diving

then decide what you want to do

you may want to take:

the recreational route and spend your money on quality trips
the solo route with SDI
the freediving route with No Tanx
the DIR route with GUE
the technical route with IANTD, TDI
the instructor route with any agency
the card collection route with PADI

I would do the first four and steer clear of the last three
Other people would focus on the last three and not the top four
Within each category there are sub categories
 
If you are referring to the adventure dives in PADI's AOW course you should note that they are not specialities per se that are included with the AOW course but merely introductory dives that can be credited towards the full specialty certs they represent. :coffee:

For just one more dive and $100...

You don't even need to be in PADI for that though :wink:

Like I said, there is a reason PADI is the largest and the most well off of the SCUBA acencies... Yes and I am jealous. :D
