Hey all! I will be traveling to Cancun for Christmas, expecting to dive the Underwater Museum, Cenotes, and possibly the Bull Shark Dives. I also know there is a GoPro Hero 4 Silver headed to my house. I am planning to get some pool-time in to try it out before-hand, but I see a lot of talk about needing filters (red or otherwise) to maximize the appearance of my pics and videos. I am sure I can go simple, all the way to ultra-complex. Just starting out, what should I aim for? And given all of the options available, are there any brands/types I should avoid?

Thank you in advance!!!

Get the red filter, you only really need it if you're going 30ft+ with no strobes or video lights. I have a hero 3 silver that I use mostly for video; I mount it on my existing rig with a video light (Even during the day) with no red filter.

the Underwater Museum is cool, I think its better to snorkel as is gives you a better perspective. I would get a selfie stick for the go pro with a lanyard (so you don't drop/lose it). Before my underwater camera's all I had was the GoPro, I typically would set it on one shot every 2 seconds or Video ...Get a 64GB+ memory card at minimum and extra batteries.

Hope this helps.
