This is very good way to ruin the o-ring and the DIN retainer and housing. Torque it properly to specs and don't try to the use the reg body as a wrench by turning it when pressurized and you won't see this happen to any real extent.Re the Xtras:
I happened to visit the store in Florida when they were about to announce the Xtra’s. The short summary is they got frustrated with the slow service from Deep6, and decided to do it on their own. I was at the time using Mk25/G260 regs, and honestly with the exception of an auto closing feature on the DIN added to the Xtra, they seem identical. I own about a half dozen sets now for bailout / deco / stage, and have never had a real issue. The only thing to know is you have to occasionally tighten the end of the DIN adapter as it will work itself lose over time (just shove an Allen wrench in the open end of the reg and tighten it, it’s easy to see if it’s loosened).
I agree, all my regs match and are interchangeable. However, while titanium regs can be O2 cleaned one probably does not want to use them for O2 service.Buy what matches your backgas regs.
All regs except titanium ones can be o2 cleaned.
