Welcome from the other side--Nova Scotia. Really frigid is 38F (+4C) last week....

The water at porteau cove was +4C last weekend as well. My next dive is on the 16th so maybe it will have warmed up a bit by then! I did my certification dives in +7C.

This is what I've heard, I'm doing a few more dives around Howe Sound to gain a bit more experience before I start heading over there. Apparently there are some good wreck dives over there as well? I might need deep diving for that?
It’s a really good idea to be advanced to see the wrecks, best with Nitrox and possibly Deep. We have a nice wreck that’s shallow and a shore dive as well.

Something for me to work towards! I'll be diving around these parts as much as I can.

I don’t know if Rebecca Barnett is on scubaboard, but she’s on FB. She’s be a great instructor. Same with Liz Tribe.

Good day new friends :)

I'm a recently certified open water diver, I completed my training in the frigid waters of Vancouver BC and LOVED IT! Fortunately I did my training in a dry suit, an extra skill I thought would be useful for diving in these parts.

A week ago I managed my first tropical dive down in PV which was quite a lot different then what I'm used to up here but it got me even more motivated to get out there and start the whole travelling deal.

Anyways, I was told about this site through the scuba sub-reddit and thought I'd join in. Any other Vancouver divers want to chat feel free to hit me up!!! I'll be continuing to dive up here even through the cold months so if you have any dive locations you want to suggest it would be greatly appreciated!
Welcome to Scubaboard and to the diving addiction! Fellow cold water diver and avid dive traveler here. You are embarking on what should be a wonderful lifestyle.

Welcome aboard Laura !!

PM me if you are interested in shore diving in the central Vancouver Island area. I know most of the spots around the Nanoose / Parksville area.

F.Y.I. - visibility has taken a real nose dive in the past week - 5 to 10 feet at Tyee Cove this morning. The herring run is also starting in the area, and it can have a negative affect on visibility. Probably 3 - 4 weeks before it starts getting any better (which is why I am off to Cozumel soon !!).

Dive safe !!

I'm glad to be meeting a few potential dive buddies in the area :). I'm heading out this saturday to porteau or kelvin grove, hopefully the vis is better than last weekend (apparently it was only 5-10 as well).

At this time I'm starting to put together my own set of gear which will make dive trips much easier!
