I did a Banda Sea trip last November, totally epic! We saw the large schools mostly at about 30M. We would see them in smaller groups up shallower, then we'd see them in one's or two's over the reef. The 3rd dive of the day was always the best with the biggest schools.
From what I was told and have read October and November are "the season"

That sounds great! Which LOB were you on? I read Captain's logs of a LOB in the area, they don't seem to be able to locate sites with hammerheads.

We had schooling hammerheads at Pulau Run around 35-40 m and a single hammerhead in Nil deperandum at 14 m. Nil desperandum was very exposed with strong currents and bad visibility, Pulau Run was great. Our LOB was the Damai 2.

Thanks all.
Black Manta seems to know where the hammerheads are! I've heard from several people of encounters...
