Glad to help, it's a nice little setup.

Yes the locking off the shutter and kicking back the AE -1 or -2 helps it out as the thing always wanted to kick the shutter speed up and keep the fstop low when on auto and it likes kicking in the db gainboost allot causing for a grainy soft image in low light.
