Our Christmas present to each other is a vacation to somewhere warm in February and obviously getting some quality time is a priority. That said, I want to go on a few (read: as many as possible) dives while we are there. Her favorite activity on a trip like this is sitting around drinking daquiri's and eating ceviche, but we would also want to do some "fun" things together like horseback riding or jetskiing or something...

Any suggestions on a location? I would like to do either wreck, drift or cavern diving....

additional note: we have been to Ambergris Caye and loved it. This is already on our list

Hi mwilding,
As my SO is not a diver,we too look for places where she can be safe,be entertained, and have fun while I go diving. Based on the activities you mentioned I'd suggest:
Aruba
Grand Cayman
Cozumel

We have been to all three, and plan on returning to all three.

good luck,
Mike

Which one has the best nightlife?

While neither of us are big nightlife people, here's what we have seen:
(most recent trips: Aruba '03; GC '02; Coz '01)

Of the three places only Aruba has casinos.

All three have various clubs, etc. Many are geared for tourists.
Most of the hotels will have on site entertainment of various quality and scope.

GC has the most "fancy (read pricey)" restaurants.

Cozumel -in San Miguel (the only major town) has many shops and "authentic" Mexican restaurants.
The Plaza (town square) has a festival of local arts, crafts, music, etc.

I'd check out Frommers(sp?) tour catalogs for more specifics.

Mike

Thanks - the reason I ask is because the night before non-dive days, she and I will go out and get absolutely shnookered. It's how we define quality time...

Just returned from a 10 day trip to Aruba. I'm in a similar situation as yourself - non-diving wife etc. We both had an awesome time.
Try Dive Aruba for a dive op, Clive runs a great dive op

What non-diving things did you two do in Aruba?

We are planning on goin to Aruba March 5th. Can you suggest a place to stay? I have been there about 6 years ago, and did dive with Scuba Aruba.

Barbados is offering some great deals now....there is tons to do after diving.
