In my ever so humble opinion, this new thing of companies producing "EANx compatable" regs is just an attempt at slick marketing. Unless you are using high ppO2's, such as in a stage bottle or something, then you don't need to worry about it.
 
Its all about liability... They just need to cover their a**es if the sh*t ever hits the fan. If you have noticed, most regulator manufacturers have started to state that their regs are good for up to 40% EAN. By the way, if you are using 50% O2, you should have a cleaned reg. 50% O2 acts just like 100% O2 when you are dealing with particle impingement, and combustion.

OK, so I shoud just ignore what the owner's manual says about using it with Nitrox. I just want to be sure everything is OK since it is to be my fiance's reg.

It is a CYA situation. Off the record they'll tell you it is alright below 40%.
