I have a chance to pick up an XTX40 second stage, in new open box condition. I can't seem to locate much info on this reg.

I currently dive a Aqualung Titan first/second stage. Would there be a noticable improvement in upgrading the second stage to the Apeks?

CFD,
You will end up with what is essentially a Titan LX. The air barrel on the XTX second uses most of the same parts as the Titan LX (the ATX is identical) second, and would probably breath the same. You probably won't notice much difference until you reach at least 100 feet.

As ereediver says, the XTX40 is functionally identical to the other "higher end" Apeks second stages with the exception of the adjustable cracking control. One of the nice features is the option of a wide or narrow exhaust. I have the wide exhaust on my primary and the narrow exhaust on my backup.
