Just wondering what the consensus is about the US Divers/Aqualung second stage equivalent to the classic 109/156/G250 SP regs?

I can see that SP 108 = USD/Aqualung 1085 series with similar unbalanced all metal can design (but larger exhaust valve and venturi assist vane on the 1085) but cannot seem to see an equivalent balanced adjustable offering to match the SP 156/G250?

Legend/Titan LX/Titan LX2?

I have an early JM Cousteau royal aqua lung, balanced but not user adjustable, interesting design but no parts available, extra exhaust valve where the adjuster would be.

I don't think there is, the Conshelf for equal/greater robustness but of course not balance or adjustable unless you buy an adjustable KM iteration.

it is a legend..... no equal. Lots of options in first stages, not with 109/156/g250 second stages...

Isn't the Mikron a pneumatically balanced poppet second stage with an external knob to increase breathing resistance?

So it would seem according to Scubalab June 14, 2011:

When ScubaLab put the Mikron on the ANSTI breathing machine, it pumped out lots of air, even at extreme depths and breathing rates. Built for traveling, the Mikron features a balanced-diaphragm first stage that isn’t much bigger than a golf ball, a compact, pneumatically balanced second stage and an ultra-light, ultra-flexible braided hose. The user-control knob offers about one-and-a-quarter turns of adjustment and, when fully closed, it does an excellent job of preventing surface free flows.

But the Mikron is relatively recent vs the 109/156/G250

Yes, but that knob is not really an adjuster as on the 109/156/G250, it's limited, isn't it? And just more for surface free flows?

I don't know. Looking at the parts diagram, it reminds me of all the unnecessary monkey motion the G250HP had and reason enough to eschew it.

I am not familiar with the Mikron but it sounds like the follow-on to the Micra, which I once had as my first reg 20 years ago. In fact Vince Harlow's reg book has an exploded view of it on the cover.

It had more parts inside of it than an H-Bomb. Breathed fine but damn!

I just picked up a non-adjustable Micra as part of a bundle of USD SEA4 regs... a his'n'her set from a couple selling all their gear.
However someone had sucked one of the exhaust valves through the cage where it then sat for 10 years and developed a set!
So I'm chasing a service kit and/or two silicon exhaust valves... a little distorted with age, they appear to be 25mm or 1" dia size, only 26mm in the Trident catalogue :(
The Micra ADJ version seems like a perfect compact travel reg, with a non-ADJ as octo.
