Anyone had a positive experience with this Cancun shop? Since booking with them for my upcoming trip (April 2002) I've seen few positive reviews.

Hopefully my previous training and 'Lone Wolf' attitude will help me survive.

I'll be sure to post a review upon my return.

Hopefully my (perceived) blunder can benefit others in the future.

Hi bjp63,

Might want to rethink it. I'm with "kru," it's mooooo.

Also might find interesting a little item I did for "Undercurrent" http://www.undercurrent.org/ Search under AquaWorld. It's in the Mar '01 issue, page 7, about AquaWorld leaving divers behind.

Sorry.

You haven't gone yet, get out of it. No reason to start out on the wrong foot.

good luck don O

vs. losing a $300 deposit?

Of course you put the deposit on a credit card and 30 days ahead is a reasonable time ,,, heck tell em you broke your leg.

Lets see , two Aqua World dives should be good for about 60-70 minutes of bottom time total. If you're by yourself that's only one mistake a day times X days ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

A good operation might be 90 to 120 minutes ,,,,,,,,,,,,

Heck, it's only money

I just got back this week from Playa del Carmen and the dive shop
Barracuda at the Allegro had nothing but dislike for the AquaWorld dive operators. From what I saw they are very much the mooo... I dove with small groups and we had excellent dives and were well taken care of. I would try to get my deposit back if possible.

I really appreciate the feedback.

I've sent a request to AquaWorld for the cancellation of my reservation and refund of my deposit (~$300). We'll see if I get my money back.

Based on a glowing recommendation from La Maurita, I've requested a reservation (including AOW certification) with Manta Divers, and it turns out they are extremely close to our hotel (Presidente) in Cancun.

Hopefully I'll get this right.

Good Job on trying to cancel that deposit!!!!
I was hoping someone besides me would help you
to see Aqua World would be a mistake!!!
Good also that you have chosen Manta Divers, they
are very nice, professional and will take you where
you want to go when you want!
We were able to select our locations, bottom time and
had an excellent time there.
Hope you tell them HI for us as we really did enjoy them!!!
And if "Bob" is still hanging around there shop (he seems
to stay in Cancun for months on end) tell him we said HI too!

You will not be disappointed with them.
Make sure you contact Javier Castor for your
Centotes and Cozumel Trips...they will cater to you
equally as well
their email is cavernknight@prodigy.net.mx
you will not be sorry with them either........
This is the person Manta will send you with if you book
your cenotes and cozumel trip so if you contact them
directly at the email address above, then you will get your
trip about $40 cheaper than paying Manta their cut!!

Have a great trip and let me know how it goes when you
get back!
