Are Snorkels required

    # of Dives: I just don't log dives
    Location: New England
    I was taking a class a couple years ago. I asked the instructor if I had to have a snorkel.

    Them; agency requires students and instructor must have a snorkel.

    Me; it will be rolled up in my pocket.

    Them; agency doesn't say where it has to be, just that you have one, mine will be in a pocket also.

    I keep my snorkel handy.....it’s at home next to my 5 1/4 floppy drive and 1200 baud modem.

    I believe every snorkel thread should include a mention that if you don't have one--at least in your gear bag on the boat--it will cause a whale shark to show up on the trip back to the dock.
