Asking about Canon DSLR macro lens

Many of you probably understand this already, but there may be some who were confused, as I was at first, about the crop factor and statements like "a 100mm with a 1.6x crop factor camera is equivalent to a 160mm".

This statement is true, but is referring only to the field of view, not the magnification or telephoto-ness of the lens. That is, using the 100mm on a cropped sensor yields a picture which is equivalent in all ways to a 60%(approx) crop of the equivalent shot taken with the same lens on a full frame sensor. The image isn't any bigger on the sensor, you just have a smaller sensor.

Put another way, the angle of view, or that amount of the view rendered through the lens that is intercepted by the sensor, is narrower.
