autofocus mode disabled on nex-5?

I was trying to get continuous focus on my nex-5, but when i try to change the mode it is disabled in the menu. anyone know why?
I am shooting in manual mode too with 18-55 lens.

Do you have a separate switch on the back of the NEX5 to switch between manual and autofocus?

i can go between manual focus and autofocus, but i wanted to do continuous autofocus

Make sure AF/MF select in the camera menu is set to AF not DMF or Manual.
