Recently started using a necklace for my back-up 2nd stage diving doubles. Did a single-tank dive the other day and rigged as I normally did, exceptkept the necklace for the back-up 2nd stage. Normally, when I clipped my back-up to my right chest D-ring, I would route the hose under my arm, no problem. Somehow, mouting the back-up under my chin with the necklace, the hose didn't easily want to go under my arm, and above my arm was awkward, with way too much hose looping out and also interference with my primary hose.

How do people route the back-up 2nd stage hose when using a necklace?

Thanks!

Got it. That'll work. I was using my old 38 incher, which is why I was looking cool with the marvelously looping hose :cool2:.

Thanks!

I use a 24in hose because the 22in becomes too tight when I look to my "up-left".
Generally though it's either one of the two lengths. Personal preference dictates which one.
Route it over your shoulder.

Also depends on how big you are. Seriously. I'm 5'7" about 160. with a 42 inch chest. Someone 6'5" 285 and 50 inch chest may need the longer length. Where you position the tank can also affect it.

I've seen people make a couple loops around their neck with the excess length of hose. :rofl3: I don't recommend this at all. I agree with getting the shorter length hose and routing it over your shoulder.

This is one place where the more flexible Phantom or Miflex hoses work really well.
